CHANGE IN TOPOGRAPHY PERMIT

A Change in Topography Permit is required for any activity exceeding 50 cubic yards. For details on requirements, see the ordinance or contact the Zoning Administration Office. 


 

CHICKENS

The raising of chickens is allowed in the City of Washburn under certain conditions. Applicants must obtain the names and mailing addresses for neighbors within a 100 foot radius for neighbor noticing requirements. This information may be obtained from Bayfield County Land Records. The number limit of chickens that may be raised on a property are set by the zoning district and chicken coop design requirements. Applicants should see the Zoning Administration Office for additional information regarding permitting.


 

COMMERCIAL USE OF NON-MOTERIZED VESSEL PERMIT

Commercial Use of Non-Motorized Vessel Permit (CUP) authorizes businesses to provide certain services within the boundary of parks and other City owned property.  The CUP is a privilege subject to the supervision of designated employees and officials of the City of Washburn.  Specific terms and conditions apply based on the nature of the commercial use of City property and the impact on other public activity.


 

DIRECT SELLER PERMIT

A merchant selling, delivering or taking orders for goods at a location other than a permanent business or residence must register and apply for a permit with the City of Washburn. This shall include, but not be limited to, peddlers, solicitors and transient merchants.


 

​DOG LICENSING

Law requires dog owners obtain a license for each dog owned. Proof of rabies vaccination is required at the time of application. 

Fees:                    Neutered or Spayed = $6.00 per dog;   All others = $16.00 per dog 

                                                                    + $5.00 late fee after April 1


 

DRIVEWAY PERMIT

A Driveway Permit must be obtained before connecting to any street, alley or public right-of-way. A Driveway Permit is also required for replacing segments of driveways in the public right-of-way. 


 

OPERATOR / BARTENDER LICENSE

Persons serving or selling alcohol beverages within the City of Washburn must obtain an Operator / Bartender License.  The exception being under the "immediate supervision" identified in City Ordinance Sec. 7-2-30.

​Applicants must be:
(a) At least 18 years of age by the time of issuance.
(b) Subject to a background check investigation.
(c) Have completed an alcohol server training course.

License is valid for up to two year, expiring June 30, and only valid within the City of Washburn.
Application Fee: $35.00


 

RIGHT-OF-WAY PERMIT


 

SIDEWALK PERMIT

The City will remove sidewalk and provide sand free of charge for any sidewalk replacement activity.

A permit must be obtained before the removal or replacement of any sidewalk in the City's right-of-way. A Sidewalk Permit has no fee, but may require a bond as determined by the Zoning Administrator or Public Works Director. Collected bonds are returned to permit holders if sidewalks are built to City Ordinance specifications.


 


 

SHORT-TERM RENTAL LICENSE

A Short-Term Rental License is required for accommodations that offer rentals for less that 30 days and where the location is not also the owner's personal residence.
