Reservations

Reservations are NOT taken for camping at municipal campgrounds. All daily and weekly sites are first come first serve.

Tips for securing a campsite

  • Arrive early. Check out is at noon, but many campers are up with the sun. You can snag their site while they're still packing up.
  • Early is relative. "Early" looks different if you're driving up after work. Don't stress too much, we have overflow camping with a great view of the Lake. You won't be stranded.
  • If you can't get here early, send a friend to pay for a site for you. Maybe they'll make you dinner while they're at it.
  • Check both campgrounds. We've got two. They're both on the Lake. They both have positives and negatives. Ultimately, they both give you a place to park.
  • Summer is short and sweet. July and August are busy. Arriving Sunday - Wednesday will increase your chances of getting that perfect campsite.
  • Early season and late season are quieter, with the exception of the first full weekend in October. We'll come close to filling that weekend.
  • The last weekend in July is another busy one. The whole town will be celebrating that weekend.

Access

  • Memorial Park is best suited for smaller RV's and tent camping due to the maneuvering required among the pines for accessibility to campsites.
  • There is not a listed maximum length. Personal comfort and skill level in maneuvering between large trees may determine accessibility. Thompson's West End Campground is more open and easier to navigate for large vehicles.
  • An archway on 6th Avenue East when entering Memorial Park has a 16 foot clearance. Taller RV's can access the park via 3rd Avenue East to Memorial Park Drive or Superior Avenue to Memorial Park Drive.
  • Memorial Park does not provide direct boating access to the lake. Boaters desiring lake access should visit Thompson's West End Campground.
