The Washburn wastewater collection system consists of 66,000 feet of pipe, and four lift stations, and a wastewater treatment plant. The City's wastewater treatment plant, placed on line in 1997 has a design capacity of 380,000 gallons per day.
SEWER RATES
The Washburn wastewater utility is in accordance with a wastewater discharge permit issued by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and provisions of Section 6-2-3, Washburn Code of Ordinances. Municipal ordinances are available for review at City Hall during normal business hours. Bills are rendered quarterly and become due and payable upon issuance following the period for which service is rendered. A late payment charge of 3% with a minimum of .50 cents per month will be added to bills not paid within 20 days of issuance. The late payment charge will be applied to the total unpaid balance for utility service, including unpaid late payment charges. Rates are effective as of June 16, 2024.

BILL PAYMENT
Utility service is billed quarterly in accordance with the following schedule:
- September 16 - December 15: Bill Received on or about January 1
- December 16 - March 15: Bill Received on or about April 1
- March 16 - June 15: Bill Received on or about July 1
- June 16 - September 15: Bill Received on or about October 1
Bills are due upon issuance and are payable to the City of Washburn at City Hall from 10am-4:30pm Tuesday through Friday, at the 24/7 drop box at City Hall, by mail, direct debit, or online.
State Law and municipal ordinance permit delinquent utility charges to be attached to properties as a tax lien.
